Land and Building Advisory Committee Consulted on Urban Design Study for the New Central Harbourfront

At the meeting today (May 29), the Land and Building Advisory Committee (LBAC) was consulted on the study proposals for the Stage 2 Public Engagement of the Urban Design Study for the New Central Harbourfront (the Study).

Members discussed the refined urban design framework and different design concepts for the key sites in the new Central Harbourfront as proposed in the Study. They shared the vision of creating a vibrant, green and accessible Harbourfront, and provided ideas on how this could be achieved. Members were of the view that a good integration of different uses at the new Harbourfront, including cultural, recreational and commercial uses, would enhance the vibrancy and attractiveness of the Harbourfront to different sectors of the community.

Taking into account the public views received in the Stage 1 Public Engagement of the Study launched in May last year and other public submissions, the Government has launched the Stage 2 Public Engagement on 11 April 2008 inviting the public to provide views on the refined urban design framework and alternative design concepts for the key sites. The consultation exercise will last until July 10, 2008.
