Layer AssignmentAutoCADMicrostation
AutoCAD layer assignment will follow the common convention of creating the relevant layers as and when they are required in accordance with the CSWD.No more than 63 layer names should be used per file (until this restriction in Microstation is removed in future versions) Microstation levels shall be assigned layer names using the CSWD layer naming convention.

Each layer name should be assigned to a separate level number e.g.

Level 1
Level 2
Level 3
A_2111M
A_2112M
A_213_M

The CSWD will not utilise the level number assignment function. If users have a level assignment system in place then this can be maintained.

If not, then it is recommended that layers are assigned numbers in the order in which they are created e.g.

Level 1
Level 2
Level 3
First layer created
Second layer created
Third layer created

No more than 63 layer names should be used per file.
