Government's latest quarterly statistics on private housing supply in the primary market are available today (January 21) on the Home Page of the Housing, Planning and Lands Bureau.
The statistics reflect the situation as known at the end of the fourth quarter of 2004 in three areas - first, the number of private residential units under construction; second, the actual completion of private residential units; and third, the number of completed but unsold units in the primary residential property market.
The dedicated Home Page was launched in November 2004 to enhance the transparency of information on the supply side of the private housing market by giving the public a clearer picture of the actual number of new units under construction as well as the number of completed but unsold units in the primary market at the end of each quarter.
There are detailed explanatory notes to help users to reconcile the data compiled in this form with the source data released by various government departments.
The data are scheduled to be updated on 21 January, 22 April, 22 July and 21 October this year. Anyone interested in obtaining the statistics and related information can visit the website at http://www.hplb.gov.hk/.
