The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department today (August 9) advised consumers to immediately stop using the two models of Hydor aquarium water pumps, Koralia 2 and Koralia 3, for safety reasons.
According to the supplier, the water pumps, which need to be recalled, bearing the production batch numbers 644, 651, 703 and 707, were supplied to the local market between January and March this year.
Acting on a complaint, the department found that the Hydor aquarium water pumps might have an electricity leakage problem, posing a risk of electric shock to users.
The supplier, Johnson Wai Aquarium Supply Co Ltd., has taken the initiative to conduct a voluntary recall of the aquarium water pumps concerned and arranged recall notices in newspapers today and tomorrow (August 10).
The department appeals to consumers to stop using the water pumps and to return them to the supplier for replacement or refund as soon as possible.
For details of the recall, consumers may contact Johnson Wai's customer services hotline on 2411 0420.
