Recall of electric table fans (with photo)
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department today (September 12) urged consumers to immediately stop using a model of Hyundai 12-inch electric table fans for safety reasons.
A recent safety test by the department revealed that the electric table fan, model no.FT-30A3, might overheat because of an internal component fault, posing a potential fire hazard.
The supplier, STD (Far East) Limited, has taken the initiative to conduct a recall of the electric table fans and has placed recall notices in newspapers today (September 12) and tomorrow (September 13).
According to the supplier, the electric table fans were supplied to the local market between May and July this year.
Apart from appealing to consumers to stop using the electric table fans, the department advises that consumers return them to the supplier for a refund as soon as possible.
Details of the recall can be obtained by calling the supplier's hotline at 2622 8331 or 2363 3060.
