Sha Tin sewage treatment works open to the public
Sha Tin sewage treatment works, the largest sewage treatment works in Hong Kong, will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday (March 15 and 16).
Commissioned in 1982 and managed by the Drainage Services Department, the treatment works serves Sha Tin, Ma On Shan and the villages nearby.
The department will arrange activities at the open days, including a tour, video shows, exhibitions and computer animation games to let people to see the facilities at the treatment works, including the biological treatment and sludge digestion process to promote public awareness in environmental protection.
There will also be a special exhibition dedicated to the Olympic Equestrian events. Visitors can take photographs with horses provided by a riding school.
A free shuttle bus service will be provided at Pai Tau Street at MTR Sha Tin Station (Exit B), On Chun Street (opposite Ma On Shan Park) and MTR University Station Bus Terminus from 9.15am to 4.30pm on both days.
