Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) to visit Singapore

The Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Mak Chai-kwong, will lead a delegation including officials from the Water Supplies Department and Drainage Services Department to attend Singapore International Water Week in Singapore tomorrow (June 22).

With the theme, Sustainable Water Solutions for Cities, Singapore International Water Week aims to provide a global platform for policy makers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners to address the challenges in the water industry.  The event is organised by Singapore's Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and the Public Utilities Board of Singapore.

Mr Mak, accompanied by the Director of Water Supplies, Mr Ma Lee-tak, will attend the Water Leaders Summit to exchange views with top government officials and leading industry players.  The summit will discuss the delivery of water solutions through sound policies and practices, effective governance and implementation, and investment in technology and innovation.

The delegation will pay technical visits to various water treatment and management facilities which have applied advanced technology in sea water desalination and water reclamation.

During the Singapore International Water Week, Mr Mak will be speaking on Hong Kong's water supply and drainage strategy.  He will introduce the major water supply and drainage projects in Hong Kong to an international audience of consultants, contractors and industry leaders.

Mr Mak will return to Hong Kong on June 26 (Thursday).
