In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Lands Department said today (May 19) that the Tai Tong Lychee Valley Co. Ltd. had applied to the District Lands Office/Yuen Long (DLO/YL) for Short Term Tenancy for several structures erected on unleased Government land outside the Tai Lam Country Park. Due to objection from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, such application was rejected by DLO/YL, which has already posted a notice requiring the occupant to remove the concerned structures before May 19.
DLO/YL inspected the concerned Government land upon expiry of the said notice. It is found that the structures, which include porches straddled on private land and Government land, a Pai Lau, a toilet and a refrigerated container on Government land, remain on the site. DLO/YL will arrange a contractor to remove the structures commencing next week.
Besides, DLO/YL is consulting legal advice regarding prosecution and claims of removal costs.
