Entries invited for "People, Trees, Harmony" photography/video contest (with photo)
The "People, Trees, Harmony" photography/video contest 2012-13, organised by the Greening, Landscape and Tree Management Section (GLTM) of the Development Bureau (DEVB), is accepting entries from today (September 19) till January 9, 2013. All are welcome.
"Through this contest, we hope to encourage people to capture Hong Kong's impressive trees and landscape with the aim of enhancing the awareness of the general public of the value of trees and the importance of tree preservation," said a spokesperson for the DEVB.
The contest comprises photo and video categories. The photo competition is divided into a student group and an open group, while the video competition is open to all without different sections. Each competition is sub-divided into three categories under the themes "Old and valuable trees or stone wall trees", "Seasonal changes of plants" and "Beautiful parks and open spaces". The entries should demonstrate the recreational, aesthetic and environmental value of trees, plants and open spaces to the community while also showing an appreciation of Hong Kong's landscape. Submissions may include wildlife or people interacting with trees and landscape.
In each category, there will be a champion, first runner-up, second runner-up and a number of merits. Winning entries will be put on display at the Hong Kong Flower Show 2013 and in a roving exhibition from March to July next year.
Enrolment forms and details of the contest are available on the DEVB's "Greening" website (www.greening.gov.hk). For enquiries, please call the GLTM of the DEVB at 2848 2334 during office hours.
All entries with completed enrolment forms should reach the GLTM of the DEVB at 16/F, West Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, by January 9, 2013.
Results of the contest will be announced on the DEVB's "Greening" website in February 2013. Winners will be notified individually.
