Tenders invited for dredging works in Kwai Tsing Container Basin and approach channel
The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (April 12) invited tenders for the contract for dredging works in the Kwai Tsing Container Basin and its approach channel to enable unrestricted access for the new generation of ultra-large container ships to the Kwai Tsing Container Terminals at all tides.
The works mainly comprise:
* dredging of about 428 hectares of the sea bed at Kwai Tsing Container Basin and portions of the Northern Fairway and Western Fairway to a designed sea-bed level of 17.5 metres below Chart Datum;
* disposal of the dredged sediment at designated disposal facilities;
* modification of part of the existing Tsing Yi submarine outfall; and
* demolition of part of the abandoned Kwai Chung submarine outfall.
The works are scheduled to commence in September this year for completion in early 2016.
The CEDD has commissioned Mott MacDonald Hong Kong Limited to design and supervise the works. Interested contractors may obtain the tender forms and other particulars from Mott MacDonald Hong Kong Limited at 20/F, AIA Kowloon Tower, Landmark East, 100 How Ming Street, Kwun Tong.
The invitation to tender was gazetted today. The closing time for the tender is noon on May 24. Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box at G/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar.
