The Government published in the Gazette today (January 23) the Builders' Lifts and Tower Working Platforms (Safety) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulation 2015 to adjust eight fees payable as specified under the Regulation.
The adjustments cover the following categories:
(a) fees for registration as a registered examiner and renewal of the registration;
(b) fees for registration as a registered contractor and renewal of the registration; and
(c) fees for examination of reports and certificates of tests and examinations issued by registered examiners.
"In line with the 'user pays' principle, it is the Government's policy that fees should in general be set at levels sufficient to recover the full cost of providing the services.
"In order to achieve full cost recovery gradually and avoid a steep fee increase, the eight existing fees relating to builders' lifts and tower working platforms will be increased by about 9.7 per cent to 10.6 per cent," a spokesman for the Development Bureau said.
The Regulation will be tabled at the Legislative Council on January 28. Subject to approval by negative vetting, the revised fees will come into effect on March 27.
