Heritage Fiesta 2015 will be held in October and November, during which 25 historic buildings serving as arts and cultural venues will be open to the public during specific opening hours to showcase the rich heritage of Hong Kong.
"Many historic arts and cultural venues in Hong Kong are well preserved. The event is a great opportunity for the public to learn about and appreciate these historic buildings of different architectural styles," a spokesman for the Commissioner for Heritage's Office of the Development Bureau said today (September 20).
Admission to some of these historic buildings will be free of charge. Some of them will also offer free guided tours on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors can also collect special stamps at the participating historic buildings during their journey of heritage exploration.
Exhibitions displaying photos of the participating historic buildings will be held at One International Finance Centre in Central and the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui from October 5 to 11 and October 23 to November 25 respectively.
A pamphlet on Heritage Fiesta 2015 will be available at the participating historic buildings and the exhibition venues during the event period. It can also be obtained from the Hong Kong Museum of History in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin, visitor centres of the Hong Kong Tourism Board in Tsim Sha Tsui and at the Peak, as well as at the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok.
