The Development and Conservation of Lantau Logo Design Competition organised by the Civil Engineering and Development Department is inviting entries from today (November 7). The winning entries may be adopted for relevant promotion and publicity activities.
The Government is taking forward short, medium and long-term measures for economic, housing, social, conservation, recreation and tourism developments on Lantau. With a planning vision of balancing and enhancing development and conservation, the aim is to capitalise on the opportunities arising from Lantau's geographical advantages and strategic infrastructure in its vicinity to foster Hong Kong's sustainable development. Through the provision of recreational facilities, and housing and infrastructure development, Lantau will bring new opportunities and become an ideal place for people to blend with nature.
The competition aims to collect creative and appealing logo designs that can accurately and clearly convey the competition's theme. It is hoped that the competition will enhance the public's knowledge and awareness of planning concepts for Lantau, and provide local designers with an opportunity to showcase their creative talent and strengths.
The competition is divided into an Open Group and a Student Group. There are a Grand Prize and a number of Merit Prizes under each Group. Attractive awards include $50,000 for the Grand Prize and $5,000 for each of the Merit Prizes in the Open Group, and $5,000 for the Grand Prize and $1,000 for each of the Merit Prizes in the Student Group.
The deadline for submissions is December 9. The details and rules are available on the competition website (www.landac.hk/logo_competition/en_index.html).
