Response to injury by fallen twig on Cheung Hong Street, North Point
The Tree Management Office (TMO) of the Development Bureau and the Highways Department (HyD) send their best wishes to the student injured by the fallen twig of a dead tree on Cheung Hong Street in North Point today (September 24) and wish him a speedy recovery.
The dead tree is located on a slope managed by HyD near to North Point Methodist Church on Cheung Hong Street in North Point. It is 12 metres tall, with a diameter of 25 centimetres at breast height. The species of the dead tree could not be confirmed.
Staff of HyD and the TMO reached the scene immediately and took necessary follow up action, upon receipt of notification of the incident. Preliminary on-site observation indicates that the tree has dried up and one of its twigs snapped.
HyD will remove the dead tree and inspect the trees in the vicinity tomorrow morning. The department will take follow up action on any identified tree problems promptly.
