SDEV visits waterfront developments in Seoul (with photos)
The Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, toured the Hangang riverside area in Seoul today (March 3) to learn more about the city's experiences and initiatives in waterfront development.
Mrs Lam was given a guide-boat tour and briefing on the Hangang Renaissance Project, a long-term development project spanning two decades from 2007 to 2030 which seeks to transform Seoul into a "riverside city" by redeveloping the Hangang River waterfront.
Under the project, 12 riverside parks are to be redeveloped under different themes while urban areas near the river will be restructured and access to the river improved.
Earlier today - the first day of her Seoul visit - Mrs Lam met with the Deputy Minister for Construction and Water Resources Policy, Mr Chung Nae-Sam, to exchange views on infrastructural developments and water resources policy.
She also met with the Vice Mayor of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Dr Kim Yeong-keol, and was briefed on the city's urban planning policy.
Mrs Lam will visit Bukchon Hanok Heritage Village, Nanjido Island, the World Cup Park and Digital Media City tomorrow. She will also tour Cheong Gye Cheon Museum on March 5.
Also joining the visit are Deputy Secretary for Development (Works), Mrs Jessie Ting, and Head (Kai Tak Office) of Civil Engineering and Development Department, Mr Stephen Tang.
