In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Lands Department said today (April 29) that the District Lands Office/Yuen Long (DLO/YL) inspected the Tai Tong Lychee Valley, Yuen Long this morning. It is found that 11 structures erected on unleased Government land within the Tai Lam Country Park has been removed by the occupant, but some structures which include portion of structures straddled on private land and Government land; i.e. an office, a playground facility, three number of animal sheds and a suspension bridge on Government land remains on the site.
Tai Tong Lychee Valley Co Ltd has applied to the DLO/YL for Short Term Tenancy for the above 17 structures erected on unleased Government land within the Tai Lam Country Park. Due to objection from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), such application was rejected by DLO/YL which has already posted a notice requiring the occupant to remove the concerned structures before April 29.
DLO/YL will arrange a contractor to remove the remaining structures commencing tomorrow. It is anticipated that the operation will be completed in about one week.
After removal, AFCD will continue to manage the land concerned according to the Country Parks Ordinance (Cap. 208)
Besides, DLO/YL is consulting legal advice regarding prosecution and claims of removal costs.
As regards the structures on Government land outside the Tai Lam Country Park, DLO/YL has already posted a notice requiring the occupant to remove the concerned structures before May 19.
