SDEV to attend 2013 Mainland and Hong Kong Construction Industry Forum in Ningbo
The Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, will lead a delegation to Ningbo tomorrow (October 20) morning to attend the 2013 Mainland and Hong Kong Construction Industry Forum. The theme of the forum is "Promoting quality and innovation to take construction enterprises global".
Co-organised by the Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China and the Ningbo Municipal People's Government, the forum aims to promote knowledge and experience sharing in construction expertise and management between the industries of the Mainland and Hong Kong. It also seeks to foster ties and co-operation between the construction enterprises of the two places.
Mr Chan will deliver a speech at the forum's opening ceremony on October 21. During the forum, speakers from the Mainland and Hong Kong will share their experiences regarding development and application of quality and innovative construction as well as on collaboration between the construction industries of the two places.
During his visit, Mr Chan will meet with the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Mr Qi Ji, and the Vice Mayor of Ningbo Municipal People's Government, Mr Wang Renzhou.
The delegation comprises 150 members in total, including representatives from the Development Bureau, the Construction Industry Council, trade associations and professional institutions, as well as construction industry personnel, a legislator and legal professionals.
Accompanying Mr Chan to the forum will be the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Wai Chi-sing; the Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr Hon Chi-keung; the Director of Highways, Mr Lau Ka-keung; the Director of Architectural Services, Mr Leung Koon-kee; the Director of Buildings, Mr Au Choi-kai; the Director of Drainage Services, Mr Chan Chi-chiu; the Deputy Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services (Trading Services), Mr Woo Kin-ming; and the Deputy Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Enoch Lam.
Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong on the evening of October 21. Other delegation members will conduct study visits to Ningbo and Hangzhou from October 22 to 24, where they will visit an energy-saving equipment enterprise and energy-saving buildings.
