The Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, will leave Hong Kong for Moscow tomorrow (December 9) to attend the IV Moscow Urban Forum.
The Moscow Urban Forum aims to provide a global platform in which government officials, and experts and academics in city planning and urban development can exchange views and share experiences. Mr Chan will speak at the opening plenary session under the theme of drivers and priorities of city development in Hong Kong.
During his stay in Moscow, Mr Chan will also attend meetings of the Moscow International Advisory Board on Urban Development. The Board, comprising senior government officials, academics and experts from several major cities around the world, will consider in its coming meetings the urban planning, land use and infrastructure development in Moscow, as well as the Moscow River redevelopment project.
Mr Chan will meet with officials of Moscow.
Accompanying Mr Chan on the visit will be the Director of Drainage Services, Mr Daniel Chung, and the Head of the Energizing Kowloon East Office, Ms Brenda Au.
Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong on December 13. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Development, Mr Eric Ma, will act as Secretary for Development.
