The Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, will leave Hong Kong for Barcelona tomorrow (March 8) to lead a Hong Kong delegation to attend the Symposium of the Hong Kong-Barcelona Urban Exchange Platform.
Mr Chan will officiate and speak at the opening ceremony of the symposium. During his stay in Barcelona, Mr Chan will also meet with officials of the Government of the City of Barcelona and Barcelona Regional to exchange views and share experiences on urban planning and harbourfront development.
The Hong Kong-Barcelona Urban Exchange Platform aims to provide a platform for the two cities to exchange views and share experiences on urban planning and design, waterfront development and urban regeneration. The Hong Kong delegation attending the symposium will include government officials and representatives from the Hong Kong Institute of Planners, the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design and the Hong Kong Green Building Council.
Accompanying Mr Chan on the visit will be the Director of Planning, Mr Ling Kar-kan, and the Head of the Energizing Kowloon East Office, Ms Brenda Au.
Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong on March 11. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Development, Mr Eric Ma, will act as Secretary for Development.
