Introduction

The Development Bureau (DEVB), in collaboration with the departments under its purview, operates the Graduate Training Scheme (GTS) providing training recognised by the relevant professional institutions.

Newly graduated university students from 18 professional disciplines (details as below, including architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, surveying and town planning) are welcome to join the GTS.

In the capacity of Graduate Trainees (GTs), they will receive practical training under professional guidance for a period of two to three years, as appropriate, pursuant to the training requirements of the relevant professional institutions.  For engineering GTs, they will be offered further engagement for one to two more years of post-training period to qualify them to sit the relevant professional examinations.

Entry Requirements and Terms

GT candidates should be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and have an acceptable degree in the relevant discipline from a Hong Kong university or equivalent (obtained in the current year or the immediately past year), or other non-degree qualifications acceptable to the relevant professional institutions (obtained in the current year or the immediately past year). The engagement as GTs is not an appointment to the civil service on civil service terms and conditions.

Note: GTS recruitment exercises will be open for application around September to February next year. The details of application will be announced in the Government Vacancies Enquiry System by that time.
