Interested parties are now invited to submit non-committal expressions of interest (EOI) for the development of the Tourism Node at Kai Tak to the Energizing Kowloon East Office (EKEO) of the Development Bureau from today (September 29) to December 8, 2015
The Tourism Node, on a 5.93 hectare site, is a major component of the Kai Tak Fantasy project which encompasses a visionary plan to develop the former runway tip and its adjoining areas into a world-class tourism, entertainment and leisure hub. It will comprise commercial/office/hotel uses and entertainment and leisure facilities with a total maximum gross floor area of about 230,000 square metres.
"The Tourism Node will be an attractive destination for all. We are looking for creative and viable proposals to realise the vision of Kai Tak Fantasy and bring the greatest benefit to society at large," the head of EKEO, Ms Brenda Au, said at a press briefing today.
She noted that it would be prudent to leverage on the financial viability of the commercial portion to draw up a land use mix capable of generating sufficient revenue to sustain the operation and management of the Tourism Node development.
"As the largest development site at the former runway tip and with flexibility in the land use mix, the Tourism Node will create a synergy effect with the adjoining Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and the planned hotel and residential developments nearby," she added.
Ideas and suggestions received through the EOI exercise may be used by the Government for reference in formulating the detailed development requirements for future land tender.
Details of the EOI requirements and relevant information are available at the EKEO website (www.ekeo.gov.hk). Interested parties should submit their EOI by 5pm on December 8, 2015 in person or by post in accordance with the instructions given in the invitation document.
